Chairman, Jerzy Nedoma (M.Sc., Eng.), graduate (1973) of the Department of Materials Engineering and Ceramics at the Stanisław Staszic University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Already as a student, he occasionally worked as a freelance translator and interpreter, applying in practice his command of several languages. After graduation, he combined freelancing activity with his professional career in the ceramics, glass and construction industries. The fusion of his engineering expertise and command of foreign languages came in handy both during the implementation of a unique technology of microscope glass production (0.17 mm thick) and during his work at the export and bidding departments of a number of construction companies in Krakow while working with overseas clients. He was a co-founder of LIDO-LANG in 1991, co-founder of the European Language Industry Association, and secretary of the ELIA Board for two terms. Currently, he is a member of the Audit Committee of the Polish Association of Translation Agencies. As a pastime, he perfects his command of foreign languages and eagerly analyses grammatical and lexical similarities among the various languages. He loves exploring the geography of the world, both in theory and in his travels. He enjoys swimming, Alpine skiing and mountain hiking. There is also a romantic and musical side to him: he is an avid amateur piano and accordion player. |
