Services » Localization
In the translation sector, the term localisation has two meanings: the adaptation and customisation of translated texts to specific cultural requirements, ensuring that the meaning is understandable in a particular language or country. The second meaning refers to the localisation of computer interface software, industrial machinery and equipment software as well as IT product software.
LIDO-LANG offers both types of localisation services.
In the area of software localisation, we provide the following translations: computer software and games, industrial machinery software, telecom software, online helpdesk, websites and others.
In the process of software localisation, it is of paramount importance that the translation of the messages that are accessible to the user is executed precisely, without disturbing the original programmer code. Therefore, with such translations, we use specialist tools that allow the selection of only those parts of the software that are to be translated, with no unnecessary interference to the original code. This enables us to avoid errors and prevents any code violation.
Apart from CAT tools (such as Trados, SDLX, etc.) for our localisation services, we also use the following:
- Passolo
- Alchemy Catalyst
- LocStudio
Quite often localisation projects also involve a number of technical tasks, such as:
- Adjusting the programme window size to the particular length of the message displayed
- Adjusting the function key size to the length of its description
- Laying out the messages and keys in programme windows, depending on their number and concentration
- Defining new shortcuts on the keyboard menu
