XTRF™ exam at the Volgograd University
The first term of lectures on the translation industry and XTRF™ system operation was concluded by an exam on the use of the system. In the course of the last few months, students of the faculty of linguistics and intercultural communication at the Volgograd State University have gained knowledge on the use and application of the translation company management system.
In the autumn of 2009, a cooperation agreement was signed, following which the university received a licence for the use of the XTRF™ Enterprise system by 40 simultaneously logged-in users. The product was used during dedicated optional classes, which brought students closer to the latest technology tools of the contemporary translation industry, and made it possible for them to acquire knowledge and skills of great value in the job market.
The exam that took place last week included nearly 60 detailed questions on system configuration, cooperation and settlements with subcontractors, defining the client profile, analysis of the files using CAT tools leading to elaboration of quotes and price lists, creating and coordinating translation projects, preparing reports and analyses, and many more. All of the course participants succeeded in the exam. The students will receive special diplomas, which, apart from certifying their skills, will offer financial advantage to their future employers.
The Volgograd programme was a pilot. In the following academic year, XTRF™ will initiate cooperation with other higher education institutions, enabling both universities and their students to work with the latest technology tools, gain valuable practical skills, and develop the students’ professional abilities.
